– applications invited

This August will see the staging of the first Miss Teen Ann’s Grove Scholarship Pageant, established to give young ladies from the Ann’s Grove (ECD) community, between the ages of 13-19 a chance to represent their village.

According to a release from Pageant Committee member Ms. Shauna Jemmott – herself a former Ms African Heritage Queen – the Committee is accepting applications

“If you would like to participate in the pageant,” stated the release, “please contact one of the appropriate executive committee members: Shauna Jemmott at 259-0612, Acquaba Jemmott at 259-1269, or Joyann at Joyann’s Botique at the Ann’s Grove car park.

The pageant is being staged under the theme “Beauty defined” and will also carry a platform to address the issue of HIV/AIDS and its effects on the community and youths. Several teenagers have already expressed an interest in participating, and applications are still being accepted.

Among a list of attractive prizes, the queen will receive a trip to a Caribbean destination, and a chance to win the Miss Guyana Talented Teen pageant, her ticket to national stardom! The Committee is also looking at an educational component to the prize package.
