45 Shootout for independence

The Scene

Sound de big thing! Ruff Kut Entertainment is once again bringing to you the biggest sound clash in Guyana - the 45 Shootout 2K6 'Last Man Standing' Independence clash this Saturday at the National Park.

For those of you who don't know the name 45 shootout was derived from the use of 45 records in a clash. Last year the competition was a keenly contested race as a representative from Guyana and a rep from Desperado of New York battled for supremacy. Unfortunately the Babylon boys stopped the show prematurely when it ran overtime. To avoid a repeat of the extreme disappointment experienced, this year the promoters are reminding patrons that show time is 9 pm sharp and the gates open at 7.30 pm.

Set fans will be thrilled to know that all the top jugglers will be on hand - DJ Face from Stereo Sonics, DJ Kerwyn, DJ's from Pretty Posse, King Scorpion, Stone Love, Lionheart, Jimmy Slaughter, the East Coast 45 Shootout champion and the West Coast Shootout 45 champion.

The winner will carry home a winner take all $100,000 cash prize along with a trophy and the right to wear the coveted title of king of the DJ's. Trophies will also be awarded to Mr Hype and the best juggler.

Not satisfied with an already packed and exciting programme, the show's promoter 'Cody' Cadogan is also planning a Passa Passa dance competition involving leading dance groups such as Diamond Squad, X Factor, Famous Pose and the Linden dancers among others to add serious flavour.

Local artistes such as new reggae sensation Alabama, Benjie Diamond and Gatkid, Avalanche, The Renegade's Army and Melchesidek will be in the house as well.

Sponsors include Guinness, Carib, Brutal Tracks Recording, Jack's Music House, Giftland Office Max, Ramesh Trophy Stall and Raheem's Trading.

Other features at the show include 98.1 FM Live, two big screen DVDs, GTVibes.com and Ruff Kut IFTV and Platinum TV cameras.

And for those party all night freaks who don't go home until dawn, check out the after party at the Sheriff Night Club with the winning DJ's.

The show is promoting a peaceful vibe - no guns. Persons will be scanned at the gate.
