TSTT Pan in the 21st Century/Down Memory Lane finals

The finals of the TSTT Pan in the 21st Century/Down Memory Lane is scheduled to take place this weekend and will see a total of 25 bands vying for both titles.

One point is what is separating the first three bands in the TSTT Pan in the 21st Century Preliminary Round.

WITCO Desperadoes, Neal & Massy Trinidad All Stars and bp Renegades amassed 274, 273 and 272 respectively in a keenly contested competition spanning five days.

The results were announced at Port of Spain City Hall on this morning before representatives of participating bands.

While the Angostura Woodbrook Playboyz playing a Pelham Goddard arrangement of “Walk on By” scored the most points in the Preliminary round of TSTT Pan Down Memory Lane competition.

Playboyz amassed a total of 260 points, seven points more than second placed Ice Water Ensemble 253. Harlem Syncopators and Arima Marsicans tied for third spot with 252 points. Three time winner and defending Single Pan Band champion La Horquetta Pan Groove placed fifth.

Come Saturday 29th April 2006, 25 steelbands will vie for two titles in the TSTT Pan in the 21st Century/Down Memory Lane finals at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. Showtime is 7:00 pm.

The order of appearance is as follows Trinidad Nostalgic, The Graduates Angostura Woodbrook Playboyz, La Romaine Super Vibes, Ice Water Pan Ensemble, La Horquetta Pan Groove, Harlem Syncopaters, Hi-Larks, Arima Marsicans, Pan Revival, Peake Yacht Services Scrunters Pan Groove, Is We and the St. James Tripolians.

Theme of this year’s competition is The Art of Pan.
