The Ol’ Skool Party

Rotaracters throw big bashment

When Rotary International Founder Paul Harris invited a few friends over one cold winter Chicago night, a little over one hundred years ago, little did he realise that the movement he would eventually start would end up becoming the reason for the best party this weekend, the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central’s, Ol’ Skool Party.

Being the kind of man that he was however, Past President and Founder Paul would undoubtedly appreciate that a group of hardworking youngsters would be creative enough to raise funds for their excellent humanitarian projects by throwing the Back in Time party this Sunday night.

We can see it now, Paul just chilling at the New Court Yard, formerly Palm Court, sipping on a Carib Beer (the official sponsor of this party), chilling out while Rotaracter Nicole Williams just decides to let go and shake her booty after a hard week at Customs House plus planning this event, the 4th such annual one for the club. Though Paul sadly passed away in 1947, we have no doubt he’d be stepping in the name of love to the cool, groovy tunes of 60s, 70s and 80s that Sonic Boom will be blasting at the party which begins around 8 pm.

And at only $500 for the price of admission – obvious evidence that those Rotaracters have been picking up some tips from “The Apprentice” which we know every single of them watches religiously whenever it is on – we know that the astute businessman that Paul was would be proud.

We would advise all those Rotarians in for the District Conference this weekend to make sure that you decide to do like, Past Director Gerald Meigs said last night, and change that stuffy old image and come do a lil one two step with the youngsters as a little post conference wind down…and we do mean that literally.

So, to sum up, if you missed it: The biggest party of this weekend is going to be the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central’s Ol’ Skool Party at the New Court Yard; admission is just $500 and the bashment begins at 8pm sharp. Oh, just to add Brian Small will be a guest deejay and tickets are available at Nigel's Supermarket, The New Court Yard and any member of the club. All proceeds will be in aid of Rotaract’s ongoing community service projects.

We have to acknowledge that these pics featured are from last year’s event and were taken from GTVibes.com – forever blazing.
