The Legacy by Annan Boodram

I am Black; you are White So what?
From the Eternal Sculptor
We both are moulded.
Why
Must our fleeting moments be
Actions embracing prejudice
Words spawning suspicion
The dredging up of past misdeeds
To rationalize present brutalities
Chart future disharmony?

The child is a soul of pure light
Why must his psyche be stained?
He sees not the fractured fragments
But the unifying material beyond
Crafted in the hands of the Moulder

Black, White, Red, Yellow, Brown
Same blood, same flesh, same bone, same sinew
West Indian, American, Chinese, African, Asian
Same tears, same laughter, same pains, same pleasures
Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jew
All hope and pray and to Him look up
First World, Second World, Third World, Every World
Each struggles and strives, dreams to fulfill

Different vessels, same ocean
Myraid courses, one port
Destiny's tryst, who can escape?
