Time Meet Time by James C. Richmond

Time Meet Time

Malcolm X! Betty died

Malcolm X! Betty died

Amidst the spring- bloom

Against the mystique and time a star appeared

Summer wrecked – A conflagrated room

Too soon earth and sky did fade

Flowers to tell a story

Fragranted and red

Filtered through our night

Only God to wipe our tears

Malcolm, Dr. Betty Shabbazz is dead

Beyond the shoulders of tomorrow

And the captured monotony

There live our fallen heroes

Our memories our sorrows to mold the sleeping soil

Fruits for eternity

Under the mirrored sky

Black men cried

Beneath the heat straddled days

Women cried

In the deadness and the closing canopy of night

And the memories endless

Arise and look at the beaming light

Dr. Betty Shabbazz died

Scattered across our time and still alive

Time meet time in the dancing heat

She fought a good fight and gave her best

The ancestors gently grasp her dancing feet

And lay her down to rest

Malcolm X! Betty died

Malcolm X! Betty died

Malcolm, Betty died

Malcolm, Betty died
