SPRING TIME by James C. Richmond

SPRING TIME

I like spring time. When the leaves

are fresh and light green. The air is clean

Then sprinkling of rain appears on your sleeves

When the dark enclosement of winter is gone. I mean!

The shear weight of clothing

conceals a tender heart

Not unlike awakening

from the dead. A dead, dead heart.

Back to spring time. When a child’s

ribbons and curls reflect the sky. And her eyes

stares back with delight. With flowers in bloom

bringing a canopy of ancestral beauty. Oh Eden!

Wilt thou bow thy gracious head

in acceptance of this attainment. Saying

you have been reinstated. Saying aloud

to all and sundry.

I like spring time.
