Dying with the gods by James C. Richmond

Dying with the gods

My breakfast was done in the morning
And my lunch and dinner too
I knew from the dawning
That the gods will come through
Been there, done that
In God’s garden
On our knees did we squat
To GOD the glory in heaven
The toiling did come
While we sweated to eat bread
Dying with the gods, dust to dust do come
When the gods ascended, who's to dead?
Who is to die children
Who is to defend?
Martin defended, Malcolm defended, that was then
They say that was then, Sharpton or Farrakhan as a friend?
Living with the gods
And dying with the gods
A vision incomplete
A nation still to save, under God’s feet
