CHAMPION & HERO by James C. Richmond

CHAMPION & HERO

From this blessed land a champion boxer came

Who ruled the world in welter’s fame

With prowess and grace, he affixed his name

Upon the historical pages and gained

For Guyana a glorious crown

Over the entire world we'll make it known to man

Across every sea and every land

In the bright and crimson dawn

At noon and at midnight when darkness cover the land

For in pride, unity must command

Yes! Andrew ‘Six head’ Lewis brought pride and joy to our land

With lightning speed and a mighty hand

A knock out punch to become Welterweight’s Champion

Now gaze upon a cornerstone, forever stand!

“Pray unity can be gained where pride began”

Poem by: James C. Richmond
