Poems by Essence...
We are very fortunate to be able to feature the works of Essence, a young poet from St. Vincent & The Grenadines. Her simple yet eloquent style captures the nobilty of the human spirit while reflecting upon the tragedy of death of loved one. Her work is engaging and original and Kyk-Over-Al is very proud to share the poetic works of Essence.

Come to me, sit right here
Never let satan get the best of thee
Wisdom I will always share
It`s embedded deep inside of me.
In you I see a lot of good
I can only guide you half the way
Stay away from trouble in the hood
Work towards success night and day.
Never let life perils get you down
Be strong, bold and positive
Nor ever cause yourself to frown
You only have one precious life to live.
Take pride in all that you do
Take courage into your hands
Out there some has it worst than you
Never scorn to get those feet in the sands.
Go to school lean your lesson well
Those goals, try your best to pursue
Downfalls can cast dreadful spells
So achievements is all up to you.
I`ve raised you well my dear grandchild
Predatory eyes you must never trust
So don`t go on running wild
This world is filled with deceiving lust.
Inside cemented a treasured rainbow
It`s colours played a vital part
Hang on to it someday it will glow
For a beautiful mind portrayed a beautiful heart.
When i`m gone, tell it to your kids
Never to forget where they came from
Now wipe those tears off them eyelids
All these were grandma`s final words of wisdom.
